Auxiliary News…

The Auxiliary’s 2006 Memorial Day Poppy collection has been deemed a great success. We raised $5,861.92 through mailings and can collections. Thanks for all the help from our friends in the Legion Family. Friendship Village was a great asset, collecting $555.36 just at their facility. Toni Ballentine, our Lion friend, brought in the most in can collection. Thanks to Mary Beth Eiermann and Nancy Vrba for their coordination efforts.

On Sunday July 16^th, 35 volunteers including the Auxiliary, Legion, Sons, Schaumburg Elks, and Roselle Lions, served 100 Veterans a picnic lunch at North Chicago Veterans Hospital. Lunch included burgers, hot dogs, brats, pickles, chips, fruit and a vast array of desserts. The afternoon also included fun with outdoor games, music and, of course, Bingo. We handed out personal “goody” bags to all the vets in addition to other give aways and Bingo prizes. Volunteers visited the disabled, who are restricted to the hospital, and gave them fleece blankets and other comfort items. The volunteers had a great time, as did the vets. Building 46 showed their appreciation by shouting a triple Hip-Hip-Hooray.

The joint Legion, Sons, and Auxiliary Installation is planned for August 19^th, with cocktails at 5:00 pm and the Installation at 6:00 pm. Party Train will be supplying the music to dance and sing to. Auxiliary members should contact Marge Larson, 630-351-4928 or margrock56@comcast.net by August 12^th, if you plan to attend.

The 2007 membership drive has begun. Members should have received renewal notices in the mail. Please take the time to drop off or mail your $12 check. If you see Kathie Fitzpatrick, she would be happy take your dues in the form of cash also.
